Curriculum Vitae of Chung-Yuan Ren

Chung-Yuan Ren received his PhD in Physics from National Tsing-Hua University, Taiwan, in 2000. He spent one year as a Postdoctoral Fellow there. He was an Associate Professor in Taipei Municipal University of Education before joining the faculty of the Physics Department at National Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan in 2006. In 2011, he was granted by National Council of Science, Taiwan, as an one-year researcher in the Physics Department at Cambridge University, UK, where he worked with Professor R. Needs, the author of the quantum Monte Carlo CASINO package.

Dr. Ren has always been financially supported by National Council of Science, and was rewarded as an outstanding researcher in 2010. One of his major research interests is computational condensed mater/molecular cluster physics, including the development of the first-principles methods and applying them to study real materials; i.e., transparent conducting oxide semiconductors, surface reconstructions, multiferroics, spin-frustration materials and topological insulators. His study was recognized and reported in VerticalNews in September 2010. Another research he currently focuses on is to study the stability of bi- and tri-positronium and related problems, which is very challenging in anti-particle physics. His growing reputation leads him to be invited to review papers for famous international journals, including Physical Review and Computer Physics Communications.

The publication profile of Dr. Ren was included in the Marquis Who's Who in the World 2012, 2014, Leading scientists of the World 2013, and 2000 outstanding intellectuals of the 21st century~2013. He is also selected as membership in 2012 American Chemical Society.
